The Ultimate Giant Trevally Destination
Cosmoledo Atoll is widely regarded as one of the world’s premier destinations for Giant Trevally on the flats. Its untouched ecosystem features vast wadable sand flats, diverse islands, and a stunning lagoon all virtually unpressured and thriving with marine life.
This remote, expedition-style adventure is ideal for anglers seeking a truly wild and off-the-grid experience. Operating from the land-based Cosmoledo Eco Lodge on Wizard Island, the trip offers both comfort and reliable access to one of the most pristine saltwater environments on the planet.
Renowned as the “GT capital of the world,” Cosmoledo Atoll is dominated by Giant Trevally patrolling its expansive white sand flats, channels, and lagoon edges. Yet the fishery offers far more than just GTs, Bonefish, Milkfish, Indo-Pacific Permit, and Triggerfish also thrive here, creating one of the most diverse and productive saltwater fly fishing destinations on earth.
Fishing takes place from November to late April and is limited to just 10 anglers per week to ensure sustainability. Guests fish in pairs with expert guides using purposely designed skiffs, alternating between boat fishing and wading the flats, coral beds, and turtle grass shallows. Each day is carefully structured around the tides, targeting species like Bonefish and Triggers at low tide and GTs on the push.
The guide team, veterans from the Alphonse Fishing Company are seasoned professionals, offering personalized service and deep local knowledge. While anglers are encouraged to bring their own gear and tackle, select flies and local patterns are available on-site.
Nestled on remote Wizard Island, Cosmoledo Eco-Lodge is a unique, eco-conscious retreat designed for those seeking both adventure and comfort in one of the world’s most pristine environments. Once accessible only by live-aboard vessels, the atoll is now home to eight spacious, air-conditioned eco-pods, thoughtfully built to blend into the surrounding wilderness. Each pod features modern amenities, a private verandah, and outdoor shower, offering a balance of simplicity and understated luxury.
At the heart of the lodge is a communal dining and relaxation area, complete with a fully stocked bar, where guests, nature lovers, divers, and couples alike gather for meals and shared stories. Built with a strong commitment to conservation and sustainability, the lodge reflects a deep respect for Cosmoledo Atoll’s untouched ecosystem, making it the ideal base for experiencing its world-class giant trevally fishery.
