Remote, Wild, and World-Class
Providence Atoll, located 700 km Southwest of Mahé and just North of Farquhar, is one of the most remote and untouched fisheries in the Indian Ocean. Spanning 345 km², it features vast flats, sandbanks, and a massive lagoon network fed by countless channels. The atoll is made up of Providence North and Cerf Island.
This expedition-style trip is not for the faint-hearted. Anglers stay aboard a mothership and spend long days exploring one of the last frontiers of saltwater fly fishing. Expect pristine waters, hard-working guides, and thrilling opportunities to target Giant Trevally, Bumphead Parrotfish, Triggerfish, Bonefish, and more.
With its scale, isolation, and diversity, Providence offers an unmatched fly fishing adventure in a truly wild setting.
Providence Atoll is one of the most remote and untouched fly fishing destinations in the Seychelles. Covering 345 km² of sand flats, turtle grass beds, and reef edges, this vast fishery offers unmatched wading opportunities in a truly wild setting.
Anglers can expect to target a wide range of species, including:
– Giant Trevally (GTs) – aggressive, powerful, and often seen feeding explosively
– Bumphead parrotfish – abundant and uniquely colorful, with Providence being the birthplace of Bumpy fly fishing
– Triggerfish – arguably one of the best Triggerfish fisheries on the planet.
– Bonefish – large, with trophy-sized fish near Providence Island
– Plus: Milkfish, Bluefin Trevally, Snapper, Grouper, Barracuda, Sailfish, Yellowfin Tuna, and more
While other destinations may offer more comfort or easier access, Providence is unmatched for its adventure, species diversity, and isolation—a true frontier for dedicated saltwater fly fishers.
The MV Maya’s Dugong is a rugged, expedition-style mothership built for long-range fly fishing trips in the remote atolls of the Seychelles. Originally a research vessel, it has been refitted to support up to 12 anglers, 5 guides, and 12 crew comfortably. While not a luxury cruiser, the Dugong is a stable, purpose-built platform offering anglers reliable access to some of the best flats fishing in the Indian Ocean.
With its size, storage, and fuel capacity, the vessel handles long distances and rough seas with ease. It carries multiple tenders and all necessary fishing gear, making it an ideal base for serious anglers.
The Dugong features:
– 7 air-conditioned guest cabins with en-suite bathrooms
– A comfortable salon, indoor dining room, and several outdoor deck areas
– A mid-deck lounge with panoramic views, perfect for meals and relaxing
– A lower deck for storing boats and gear
– A stern swim platform great for a sunset cast
While anchored in the lee of the atoll, motion is expected—this is an open-sea adventure designed for anglers who value access and fishing performance over luxury.
